Summary Bank

Students can access the BLSA summary bank designed as a tool to support them in their studies. It can also be used as a template for those looking to start their own summaries. This initiative would not have been possible without the help of fellow members.

You can access the Google Drive and download documents here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1lH__MrLStGvcr9oBQ7-H_pDaBs6dZ_kH?fbclid=IwAR2U01eUiwXPHCsr2IzUeTeqLac4OiCwtPKBRTm7WOmH5GHolC6KeWGPoXo

We welcome all BLSA members to share any summaries for any courses that they may have with us so that we can continue to expand the bank as the semester progresses. if you are interested in doing so, please email your summary to presidents.blsaottawa@gmail.com.

1L Exam Preparation

BLSA understands the many challenges that first-year student experience. One of them being learning how to properly write a law school exam. To help ease student stress, BLSA holds an annual first-year exam prep session.

The sessions are generally led by Ottawa Law professors, who guide students through practice questions and exams. There will also be a Q&A session and discussions around the proper way to read and answer typical law school exam questions.

The goal is to provide incoming students with the tools to develop their personal strategy for studying and writing their first set of law school exams.

OCI Preparation

Annually, Law schools across the country extend an invitation to law firms to interview law students for potential jobs. OCIs (On-Campus Interviews) are a day of interviews by multiple law firms that target incoming second-year law students.

BLSA understands the importance of OCIs to law students. Therefore, we aim to assist students and provide information on how to navigate the OCI process. First we will have a presentation by an upper year student who had success in the OCI process and followed by a panel of lawyers and upper-year law students who were, again, successful in the OCI process.

We will touch base on different topics. For example, students will learn how to self reflect (before tackling the OCI process application), correctly write a cover letter, and learn how to make connections within the legal field.
